October Board Meeting Highlights

The Board met last night and the administration presented building goals for the year. All goals were in the area of student achievement and best practice related to high performing schools. It was affirming to recognize the system-wide alignment in processes for curriculum review, instruction, assessment, and professional development for staff.

During the presentations there were multiple mentions of the two days of intensive training for teachers and principals in assessment and grading practices this week. Tammy Heflebower of Marzano Research, an acclaimed author and expert in student assessment, led collaborative training with teachers and administrators working in grade level and content-area teams. The training is part of a multi-year strategic improvement plan in teaching and learning. Thank you to the teachers and principals for the effort you put forth in making Ballard the best we can be for our students!

With the completion of the sidewalk on the west side of the stadium we have wrapped up all of the projects designated in the bond referendum. It has been both an honor and a privilege to advance these improvements on schedule and on budget and bring all of our facilities to the next level!

We hope you enjoy the beautiful fall season and we look forward to seeing you soon! GO BOMBERS!
