KEY ACTIONS
FY2025 Certified Budget
Following the Public Hearing regarding the proposed FY2025 Certified Budget the board approved the adoption of the certified budget which set a property tax rate of $19.000918, which provides a $0.24863 reduction.
Director Reports
Katie Claeys, Director of Teaching and Learning presented a K-12 Fine Arts Curriculum Report with assistance of Misty Renze, Suann Evans and Lisa Ronca. The curriculum review process helped the district to align the department’s curriculum to the Iowa Fine Arts Standards.
Additionally, the group reminded the board of two upcoming fine arts events the school district is sponsoring this month:
- April 12-14 (three performances!): High School Musical – Mamma Mia
- April 15 – 6:30pm: Des Moines Metro Opera performing Beauty & The Beast at the High School auditorium. Tickets are $3
Middle School Cafeteria Flooring
Due to significant lifting of the LVT flooring in areas of the middle school cafeteria, the board approved moving forward with removing the entire floor and sealing the concrete with a color tint. This is similar to the flooring that is installed at the High School, which has shown great wear over the last 12+ years.
Elementary School Furniture Purchase
The elementary buildings have been on a schedule to update furniture throughout the two buildings. During the meeting the board approved the proposal to complete the cycle which includes purchasing the remaining furniture needs for the East Elementary rooms and offices that had not yet been updated per the schedule.
Last day of school
The board approved the last day of school as Friday, May 31 with an 11:00 a.m. dismissal.
